Practice Description:
Approach to Practice / Form of Mediation:
My approach is to work with each party to fully understand the substance of the dispute, the motivations and goals of each of the parties and attempt to glean the unspoken distrusts, traumas and other adverse experiences of one another which might stand in the way of an otherwise succeful result.. I attempt to detoxify the atmosphere and provide guided respectful conversations in small incremental trust building exercises. I firmly believe that it almost always possible to get people most of what is truly important to them.
Background:
After almost 4 decades of heavy litigation experience in a wide variety of practice areas, I determined that the imperfection and unpredictability of litigation left too many litigants emotionally, spiritually and financially drained. My practice now consists exclusively of providing Mediation and Arbitration services and providing pro bono services to those impacted by natural disasters or other life impacting events.
I began at the Securities and Exchange Commission Division of Enforcement, bringing actions against corporate offenders. I served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia and the District of the US Virgin Islands in a variety of capacities including acting Civil Chief, Appellate Coordinator, conducted several hundred jury cases and in Courts of Appeal. I represented both plaintiffs and defendants in complex litigation, Environmental, Land Use, Construction and AIA work as well as Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice Family Law, Contract Disputes and Employment Law
